Let There Be Light: A Christmas Spoken Word
A spoken word poem highlighting God’s extraordinary plan to bring his son Jesus to save us and be the light of the world. The piece covers creation, the prophets foretelling Jesus’ birth, and the Christmas story.
Time: Approximately 2 minutes
Perfect for a Christmas or Advent service!
Excerpt from the second page:
“When she held you that first time,
light in the darkness–
You were baby boy bundled
in soft skin,
hair matted down to a sheen
lungs that exhaled newborn cries,
bringing us light to our eyes.
This miracle child who would save the world,
this grace-giving,
sacrificial-living,
servant-forgiving,
The One, who showed us how to fight
by giving up his life.
From the creation story,
To the prophets foretelling
your advent glory,
Your Word drenched in fire,
set our hearts aflame,
to rage against the night,
to hold in our hearts this light,
this star of wonder,
this baby boy of hope.
We cry out at your birth,
with all the earth:
Let there be light.”
